Today we met a gentleman who was refered to us by Dr. Victor Avis in Staten Island, New York. I know Dr> Avis through my affiliation with The Pankey Institute and Dr. Avis' training center in New York. The gentleman had a tooth that appeared to be loose and had been told that he needed to have the tooth removed and an implant placed. This would require a bone graft surgery and about 10 months of waiting for treatment. What his doctor did not know was that the tooth could be extruded (orthodontically moved down) until there was enough tooth to place a new crown on. This proceedure takes only 8-10 weeks and is far less costly and far more predictable. He gets to keep his own tooth! You know what they say-"There aint nothin' like the real thing baby."
