The poll is taken by Northern Virginia Magazine of it's readers and local dental practitioners. Dr Varipapa is also in the Who's Who Among Dentist nationwide as well as Top Dentists in the United States of America.

Dr Varipapa has been in practice for over 25 years and has dedicated his practice to advanced restorative dentistry and cosmetic dentistry since the mid-nineties. He has completed studies at the L. D. Pankey Institute, The Dawson Center, The Seattle Institute and Spear Institute. He is a student of the Las Vegas Institute and The Kois Center for Dental Excellence. He has made a commitment to dental education, he himself was on the faculty of the University of Maryland Dental School.

Dr Varipapa enjoys the relationships he has developed with families of patients over the years and has been grateful that so many lovely and wonderful people have chosen him for their dental care. He maintains a general, advanced restorative and cosmetic dental practice in Alexandria, Virginia. The Las Vegas Institute to many people is the premier learning center for cosmetic dentists in the USA. As an Alexandria Cosmetic Dentist I enjoy going to this Institute and seeing all of their new developments in techniques and materials. It is a unique setting and they are committed to providing the highest level of training they know. This month I am attending a communication and leadership seminar that I believe will be very insightful and educational. We have always operated on the values of Honesty and Integrity and I believe it will be helpful in communicating with people who choose us for their care.

Cosmetic Dentist and New Imressions

There is an even newer system for taking cad cam dental impressions without having to use sloppy goop that tastes awful and can gag patients. It is called Lava by 3M and involves a small wand about the size of a candy cane that is waved over different areas of the teeth and allows a lab to create an even more precise impression often eliminating the need to use cord impregnated with epinephrine to retract the gum tissue for an accurate impression. Earlier generations of this were in the model T phase I believe but this particular system has all the high-tech features we need to assure accurate "impressions" of teeth to assure a superior finished dental Porcelain veneer or porcelain crown. Tooth Erosion and Worn Teeth

The hottest item on the Dental Hit parade is dental tooth erosion and wear as it is related to carbonated beverages and flavored water. It is happening across the country and across the world. As a northern virginia cosmetic dentist i have seen it happen to soooo many people, young and old. As more beverage companies develop more ways for us to drink more water you will see that most fruit flavored water has citric acid in it. If you are drinking lots of these flavored waters you might want to limit yourself to 2-3 bottles a week as it is essentially an acid wash that literally washes away the enamel. Carbonated beverages are also a source of enamel erosion, the tiny bubbles that fizz in our mouths bubble away tooth structure about as fast! Seveveral months ago I started a new study club where 9 other dentists and I saw a patient who is a student at George Mason University studying to be a teacher. I had met him at a restaurant in Charleston , SC. It turned out that he had been born with only 10 permanent teeth and at 21 years of age still had numerous baby teeth and several areas where he was missing teeth. I got a group of friends together from all of the specialties of Dentistry and met at a Prosthodontist friends office in Arlington, Va to review his case. We pooled all of our resources and began the task of diagnosing his case. It was very interesting, our orthodontist is Dr David Hughes from Springfield and he started the patient in braces to put all the teeth in the proper position. We also saw him here in Alexandria and determined he needed bone grafts and implants. We are meeting later next month to formulate his restorative plan, all of these doctors are giving their time and experience at no cost to this needy person. It has been as exciting for us as it has for this patient. Stay tuned for his before and after photos too.

We just returned form a four day program that dealt with bonding tooth colored restorations and porcelain inlays and onlays. Dr Ron Jackson was the instructor for the program which included in-depth lectures and live patient treatment using porcelain inlays and onlays. Dr Varipapa is pictured with LVI Doctor H.R. Between Thomas Circle and L Street

Several month's ago I told Barb my experience of looking for Chef Stefano Frigerio who had left Maestro's in May of last year, for a concept restaurant in Baltimore.

It did not take her long to find the chef, and mere minutes later I was on the telephone with charming owner Manuel Iguina. I asked what it was he had done to deserve having Stefano as Chef in his 6 month old restaurant.

Iguina knew only that he had been blessed (to what degree we find out later). It was 2:30 in the afternoon as I excitedly prepared for an 8PM dinner reservation, I was ready at 3 and sat with my bulldog "Mookie"counting the hours before I would leave for Mio. Barb picked me up fashionably late (she is quite fashionable) and we could not get to Mio quickly enough, I exited her car while it was still moving and ran to the door like my hair was on fire! Imagine my surprise when I walked toward the kitchen in the rear of this excruciatingly hip, Sexy Beast of a new restaurant* and saw not only Frigerio, but Nicholas Stefanelli** who had returned from New York where he had helped former Maestro Chef Fabio Trabocchi garner a three star rating. Pinch me! Two for one!

The nine pounds I had lost since Maestro's closing were about to be found. Eight trips later I thought it was time we gave Mio it's due by sharing an experience of ours and a companions dinner at the "Chef's Bar." Perched on three barstools we began our journey (my behind, not as tough as it was when I was younger was a tad sore as we reached the end of our meal). Starting with Restaurant Manager Juan Jimenez we could not miss with superb service and superior wine selections. Previously the table had a waiter but that has changed where the Chef served our meal and Mr Jimenez managed our wine and water service. Several times Manuel Iguina took time away from his own guests to attend to our comfort and chat a bit. The first selection was a white Abarillio from the northwest region of Spain that borders Portugal, it was an excellent choice light yet flavorful perfect for our first courses.

We started with a poached turkey egg with a drizzle of olive oil and shaved truffle accompanied by asparagus which were sauted and delicious, a simple treat delightful with our Albarillio. Barb: I really appreciated that the asparagus had been properly trimmed. Why do so many restaurants serve asparagus with unpeeled stalks?

Then came Mio's very delectable, cuttle fish soup with english peas, rich in flavor and and powerfully salty like the sea. So good I wanted to pour it on my head and rub it into my hair! Barb: I found the broth inedible is was soooo salty, but the cuttlefish was tender and paired nicely with fresh peas. It was served with thinly sliced toasted Italian bread.

This was followed by hamachi tuna seared, hot on the outside cool on the inside, tender and delicious. This was accompanied by tuna carpaccio with hints of jalepeno, tangy but not hot. Barb: This was my favorite dish of the evening and the lemon sorbet that came with this dish was perfect, drizzled with a little olive oil.

Soft shell crabs followed, sauted and served on a bed of ramps with manilla clams and resting in a pool of tasty green sauce made from the ramp tops and clam juices. This was a delicate yet flavorful dish. Barb: I love soft shell crabs, and combined with the ramps the flavor was sublime but the crabs were past "soft" and were a little crunchy.

To pair with our next courses Manny appeared with a 2002 Montes Alpha from Aurelio Montes a chilean Syrah which was a perfect companion to what was to come. I'm no wine expert but this was good, bold and quite enjoyable. Then came the little "rabbit popsickles" tender loin chops served in a shallot and sherry sauce over three al dente pot-stickers stuffed with rabbit confit, the Easter Bunny would have been proud! I love rabbit and have not had it so good since Dario Leo's Rabbit with Chocolate Fettucine, where is Dario anyway? Barb: Stefano's rabbit is tender and the accompaniments are carefully thought out to create a beautiful combination of taste and texture, but my potstickers were not cooked enough, not quite al dente.

Did someone say "I love pork" your wish is Frigerio's command, a baby piglet chop slightly undercooked for some (Barb) perfect for others, a finely done head cheese with fresh herbs and stuffed leg with a puree of potatoes, magazine cover perfect whose flavor and creation was masterful. Barb: I approve of a chef who is confident enough to serve a slice of very good head cheese to his guests. Chefs too often play it safe and serve food that is not adventurous enough. I was served a very good lasagna bolognese by one of D.C's finest chefs. When I was presented with the recipe I noticed that a key ingredient was not included...chicken livers. When pressed, the chef admitted that he had left it out of the recipe because he didn't think that Americans would want to add an organ meat to their sauce when they prepared it at home. But this ingredient was key to the compexity of the sauce.

A grapefruit sorbet on pistachio crumbs cleansed our palette before dessert which was a very good butterscotch pudding with warm toast foam. Next a cheese plate served at the proper temperature and a perfect portion.

I think everyone will enjoy this restaurant because it is not overly fussy, the food is excellent and full of flavor, portions adequate and you cant beat the service, They are serious about cooking but are not taking themselves seriously, fabulous food, the nicest people, It's just FUN with a capital F!

It is fascinating to watch and talk with Stafano and Stefanelli who place such emphasis on fresh ingredients. and take care to ensure that the combinations presented work well together. Sauces are carefully prepared using these to assure a bounty of flavor in your meals. I believe that this new wave of younger chefs like Frigerio and Stefanelli who along with their peers (Chefs Eric Ziebert, Barton Seavers, John Kozic, Tony Chittum and Brendan Cox to name a few) are re-writing the way Washingtonians dine. We are engaged and excited when dining in their restaurants. Frigerio and Stefanelli know the farmers and in some cases have met the piglets and baby lambs. Their vegetables are a collection from local farms and farmers they have built relationships with over the years.

Barb: I had a terrific and memorable dining experience. There were so many different dishes and flavors with the fresh, high quality ingredients being the stars. I highly recommend sitting at the kitchen bar where you can observe the attention to detail and how each dish is prepared and executed. The chefs clearly enjoy their work and share so many interesting details about the food.

Run, don't walk to Mio Restaurant.

Alexandria Cosmetic Dentistry

We spent the day yesterday with my dear friend Sandy Roth. Sandy is a psychologist and trainer. She worked with us on listening and hearing. So often we may think we understand what someone wants or desires but we have really not heard them. We try our very hardest to listen well and understand peoples desires and how they want us to help them. One of the values that our office is rooted in is honesty. We are always honest with our patients and our patients are honest with us, we have made that agreement with them from the "git go" as they say in Southern Maryland.

The class was really excellent, Sandy is a terrific teacher, she was once the vice president of The National Organization of Women and was an instrumental player in the women's rights movement back in the 60's and 70's. She and her husband Doug (also a dentist) live in Central Florida.

As a cosmetic dc dentist serving Northern Virginia and the Maryland Suburbs I believe it is very very important to take the time to listen and understand people really really well prior to discussing treatment options. Someone who has an understanding of the unique needs on an individual can better serve them.

We are thankful and grateful to all of those who chose us to serve their cosmetic dental needs and especially grateful to the caring people who allowed us to use their before and after photos so that others may see them and have hope for their future of having a healthy mouth and smile! Just a note to let you know that we have just completed a full day seminar with Dr. Michael Myasaki in Vienna Virginia. Dr. Myasaki reviewed several principles of Neuromuscular dentistry and occlusion to 25 local DC Cosmetic Dentists. Dr Varipapa was one of only three cosmetic dentists there who had been named "Top Dentist" with particular expertise in cosmetic dentistry by Washingtonian Magazine. As a member of this local LVI study club which meets in McLean Virginia, top cosmetic dentists from the DC area meet to enhance their studies in particular areas of advanced dentistry. LVI and Neuromuscular Dentistry

Clare, Silvia and I are currently in Las Vegas, Nevada attending the world renown Las Vegas Institute. We will get back to you with more information about everything we are learning about neuromuscular occlusion (the bite and it's relationship to the muscles and nervous system). We are looking forward to a great learning experience and visit to the city of Las Vegas. We know that there are things we will learn about the bite and how it affects comfort and and how headaches can be caused by the bite and the differences of the bite. Coupled with our training at the Pankey Institute and The Seattle Institute we hope to be able to help patients find answers to their questions and problem solve with them. Washington DC Porcelain Veneers

Cosmetic Dentistry is not a specialty of the profession of dentistry. Many people who market themselves as a cosmetic dentist may not have had significant training in the science and techniques of cosmetic dentistry. The Seattle Institute (www.seattleinstitute.com), The Pankey Institute (www.pankeyinstitute.com) and the Kois Center for Dental Excellence (www.koiscenter.com) carefully integrate the Science and Art of Cosmetic Dentistry. I have attended and completed studies at these institututes and have attended the Las Vegas Institute which is world known for training in cosmetic dentistry. One size does not fit all however. People are different and their bites are different and subsequently they need different remedies for treatment, that is why I have extended my training to include all of these institutes and learn what is best for our patients. Guests in our practice can be certain that they will be treated individually and there are no cookie cutter plans, all the same for everyone.

Veneers were initially used as an esthetic restoration but now we use them to restore even broken and misshapen teeth. They can be a tooth strengthening restoration in these cases and provide a beautiful natural restoration because they allow light to reflect through the tooth and back out creating a natural appearance. The edges are much more bio-compatible than a cemented crown because they can be integrated to tooth surfaces and porcelain laminate veneers can improve health and tissue appearance. Beautifully prepared veneers that are polished and finished can be undetectable from natural healthy teeth.

Natural smiles have a golden proportion that is pleasing to the eye. While there are scales to calculate this it is usually best to develop a natural smile that is specific to each individuals, these formulas only serve as guides. To function properly teeth need to be the proper length and 'communicate' with the lower edges od the teeth when speaking or in function. you'd be surprised how often incisal edge position is ignored in so called 'COSMETIC DENTISTRY" practices.

The word restore means the return to natural form function and beauty. Imagine spending the time, money and energy to restore your beautiful smile with cosmetic veneers or porcelain crowns and never being able to bit e a cuticle again! A simple thing but a comforting thing to be able to do again. I will be happy to discuss your choices to restore or enhance your smile here in DC. Many times your treatment can be easy for you and very conservative. Not everyone needs 20 veneers or a full mouth rehabilitation to have a comfortable headache free bite that outlasts poorly planned and executed dentistry.

Allow Me to Introduce Myself...

My name is Zachary Tolbert, and I am nineteen years old. Since I was seven, I dreamed of one day becoming a national champion wrestler. That dream carried me to becoming a state champion, Maryland national team member, and making the Washington Post's "All-Met" team. As I began to wrestle at York College of Pennsylvania, my dream was suddenly ended when I had my third, double knee surgery, and I was forced to throw in the towel.
So I had to find something else to concentrate all my ambition and hard work towards. I found that "something else" when I came home from school, and was introduced to Dr. Charley Varipapa. In May he hired me as his dental assistant, and got me started right away. In a few weeks time I had already learned how to assist with preparation and deliver veneer cases, take x-rays and digital photos, and as his only dental assistant, was feeling extremely confident in how my efforts were contributing to the practice. Soon I found that I had a strong interest in dentistry. Having learned more about the profession from Dr. Varipapa, I decided to change my major. I was thrilled with this new change. As time progressed Dr. Varipapa offered to take me to the brand new University of Maryland Dental School in Baltimore so I could get a feel for the school and the field of dentistry.

Visiting the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dental Surgery was not a disappointment in any way, shape, or form. In fact, it only made the idea of one day becoming a cosmetic dentist so much stronger. I saw the incredible robotic patients pre-clinical students learned on, the lecture rooms, and the incredible clinics which have motivated me to continue working vigorously in school so that I can one day attend school here. After being introduced to a lot of nice people, I found out that Dr. Varipapa taught at school here from 1989 until 1995. It amazed me that he knew everyone there from the Dean, right down to the ladies that cleaned the clinics. Recently the Dean has asked him to join the Dean's Faculty and to come back and teach one day a week. Dr. Varipapa said he planned to go back in January of 2008. With his training and artistic skill in Cosmetic Dentistry, Dr. Varipapa will surely be an asset to the school. I hope he stays till I get there too!

For those of you I have not met I would like you to know that I look forward to meeting you and learning more about you. To those of you I know I would like to say that it has been my pleasure to have met you and see how the cosmetic dentistry you have had done has made such a difference for you! Digital X-Rays

While we have used digital x-rays since we opened we are updating our system to Dentrix Image platinum digital x-rays. Digital X-rays mean less radiation for our patients and friends of the practice and clearer pictures for us which helps diagnostically. It is also a nice format for sharing x-rays with specialists. We think it is the way to go to offer the highest level of care continuously to our friends of the practice.

The Trend to Conservative Prep Veneers

We have been progressively moving toward more conservative tooth preparation design when restoring teeth using porcelain veneers. Veneers were originally used to make cosmetic changes and then as we saw how durable they were and learned how stong the bond between porcelain and enamel is we started using them more often to restore teeth. The bond between porcelain and enamel is one of the strongest there is and has proven to be much stronger than a cemented crown. Studies are showing veneers banded to enamel are lasting over 17 years. Some no-prep veneers can appear to be bulky and not as esthetic as veneers that are building up the fronts of the teeth. The bottom line is that we are all different and our treatment choices must be individualized to addres our individual needs.

Maestro's Restaurant at the Ritz Carlton in Tyson's Corner will be closed until the first of January 2008, until they find a new chef. There is currently a worldwide search going on. Fabio Trabocchi left in August for Fiamma in NYC and will be involved as a chef partner and in the opening of hotels in Hawaii and LA as well as Washington, DC. Anyone craving an exceptional fine dining experience I would recommend trying Cityzen in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in DC. It's Chef Eric Ziebart hails from The French Laundry in Yountville, California in the Napa Valley.

We had a real blast at our last photo shoot! This was a shot we took spontaneously and wound up using it in a Post Ad. The friends of the practice are, from top left clockwise, Shaundra, Chris, jane, and Donna. I am the one in the middle-hey watch it!

All of these fine folks looked long and hard for the right Cosmetic Dentist and found us. I think Clare was the final deciding factor, she is so warm and sincere and she really really cares. I have worked with many people but not many have been as authentic as she is. When you meet her you will know what I mean.

The folks featured in this photo have had everything from our new Power Bleaching to veneers, crowns and full mouth re-construction. We sincerely appreciate their sharing their stories with you. Antibiotics, Dentisty and You

Recently, antibiotic pre-medication guidelines have changed. The below article explains what patients with heart conditions need to know about taking antibiotics before dental treatment:

For decades, the American Heart Association (AHA) recommended that patients with certain heart conditions take antibiotics shortly before dental treatment. This was done with the belief that antibiotics would prevent infective endocarditis (IE), previously referred to as bacterial endocarditis. The AHA’s latest guidelines were published in its scientific journal, Circulation, in April 2007 and there is good news: the AHA recommends that most of these patients no longer need short-term antibiotics as a preventive measure before their dental treatment.

The American Dental Association participated in the development of the new guidelines and has approved those portions relevant to dentistry. The guidelines were also endorsed by the Infectious Diseases Society of America and by the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society.

The guidelines are based on a growing body of scientific evidence that shows the risks of taking preventive antibiotics outweigh the benefits for most patients. The risks include adverse reactions to antibiotics that range from mild to potentially severe and, in very rare cases, death. Inappropriate use of antibiotics can also lead to the development of drug-resistant bacteria.

Scientists also found no compelling evidence that taking antibiotics prior to a dental procedure prevents IE in patients who are at risk of developing a heart infection. Their hearts are already often exposed to bacteria from the mouth, which can enter their bloodstream during basic daily activities such as brushing or flossing. The new guidelines are based on a comprehensive review of published studies that suggests IE is more likely to occur as a result of these everyday activities than from a dental procedure.

The guidelines say patients who have taken prophylactic antibiotics routinely in the past but no longer need them include people with:
• mitral valve prolapse
• rheumatic heart disease
• bicuspid valve disease
• calcified aortic stenosis
• congenital heart conditions such as ventricular septal defect, atrial septal defect and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

The new guidelines are aimed at patients who would have the greatest danger of a bad outcome if they developed a heart infection.

Preventive antibiotics prior to a dental procedure are advised for patients with:
1. artificial heart valves
2. a history of infective endocarditis
3. certain specific, serious congenital (present from birth) heart conditions, including
• unrepaired or incompletely repaired cyanotic congenital heart disease, including those with palliative shunts and conduits
• a completely repaired congenital heart defect with prosthetic material or device, whether placed by surgery or by catheter intervention, during the first six months after the procedure
• any repaired congenital heart defect with residual defect at the site or adjacent to the site of a prosthetic patch or a prosthetic device
4. a cardiac transplant that develops a problem in a heart valve.

The new recommendations apply to many dental procedures, including teeth cleaning and extractions. Patients with congenital heart disease can have complicated circumstances. They should check with their cardiologist if there is any question at all as to the category that best fits their needs.

Art and Science: Sedation Dentistry and Cosmetic Dentistry!

Summer is just around the corner and it's is Mookie's birthday tomorrow. She is going to be seven years old! She takes good care of her teeth but needs a crown on her lower front canine which she broke on a veal shank bone! The veal was delicious and I know I should never have give her the bone but she had been so good she deserved it.

We just returned from another sedation dentistry program in Monterey, California. We learned a number of new things but basically were keeping our saw sharp so we can make our patients appointments as comfortable as possible. We were probably the only Cosmetic Dentistry group there. As a Cosmetic Dentist I can say there are even more proceedures to make people comfortable with using Sedation Dentistry. When you are in please ask us about Sedation Dentistry and how it can work easily and safely for you. Whether you are coming in for Cosmetic Dentistry, Veneers, Lumineers or advanced restorative dentistry there may be a form of Sedation that is right for you!

We also had some advanced training in Life Support. The team and I really enjoyed our visit to California but as they say in the great land of Oz, "There's no place like home."

New Study: Pancreatic Cancer Linked To Poor Oral Hygiene

Recently American Researchers have found a correlation between gum disease/dental hygiene and pancreatic cancer in men.

The study was published in the most recent issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

What was discovered was men who have had a history of periodontal disease had a 64 percent increased chance of getting pancreatic cancer than their healthier-mouthed male counterparts. Men with poor dental hygiene and recent tooth loss had the highest risk of all.

The study revealed no other links between other dental problems and the pancreas.

"What a beautiful smile!" That is what a stanger said to me. Although Dr. Varipapa assured me that I would have a perfect smile after he was finished with me, I never imagined that I would receive so many compliments. The stranger that loved my smile basically stalked me the entire evening, raving about how nice my teeth are. It felt weird at first for someone to focus on my teeth, when for years I barely showed them. However, after a few "beverages of choice" I smiled for everyone that would look that evening. I feel good about my decision to get veneers and think that Dr. Varipapa, Clarissa and Rob are great.

Hello all,

The American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) annual scientific meeting is one of the many courses that we will be taking this year, it comes to add to a series of courses that we have taken in the past few months... (LVI, The Dawson center, NVDS and several others).
We are leaving next week for San Diego and we are all excited about this trip as we're looking forward to learn more and more so we can serve you better. Dental Options

Today we met a gentleman who was refered to us by Dr. Victor Avis in Staten Island, New York. I know Dr> Avis through my affiliation with The Pankey Institute and Dr. Avis' training center in New York. The gentleman had a tooth that appeared to be loose and had been told that he needed to have the tooth removed and an implant placed. This would require a bone graft surgery and about 10 months of waiting for treatment. What his doctor did not know was that the tooth could be extruded (orthodontically moved down) until there was enough tooth to place a new crown on. This proceedure takes only 8-10 weeks and is far less costly and far more predictable. He gets to keep his own tooth! You know what they say-"There aint nothin' like the real thing baby."

Sonoma and Dental Implants

Last night I had a very nice dinner at Sonoma in Capitol Hill with Spike from Aquilano Salon which is one block north of us, Dr Joe Khalil a former student of mine who is now an exceptional Prosthodontist (prosthodontists are specialists in facial prosthetics like artificial noses and ears for victims of cancer or traumatic injuries) and Mr Brandon Krapf the local rep for the Zimmer Implant Company. As someone who has been restoring implants for over 20 years I was surprised to hear from Brandon and Dr Khalil that less than 20% of dentists restore implants and and even fewer place them. We haev always considered what is in thebest interest of the patient in developing treatment plans and implant dentistry fits into that formula incredibly well.

Using bridges to replace missing teeth is not in the best interest of most patients and represents archaic treatment to say the very least. Simply being able to avoid the struggle of flossing and threading floss under bridges is reason enough to place a dental implant and not grind down adjaccent teeth to create a bridge, sacrificing 2 teeth to replace one. Teeth that are connected together loose 25 to 70% of their proprioperceptive capabilities. Proprioception is that ability to know where parts of your body are in relationship to other parts-for instance: touching your nose with your finger tip with your eyes closed.

Modern dentures can be held in place comfortably, securely and confidently with various types of implants components. It is unbelievable that someone would not at the very least be givenm the choice of having their denture secured with implants if theyare suitable for them.

By the way dinner was really nice, the pistachio ice cream (I had just a taste) was delicious! I didn't mean to ignore Spike in my dental implant disertation, he is doing great as a colorist on the national Redkin Team and will be doing hair at the big Style New York fashion shows this fall. Cosmetic Dental Academy

We are going to the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry meeting in SanDiego, California in May of this year. We have scheduled 4 days of hands on dental workshops and lectures. We are all taking different courses and a few we will take together. One program is on Occlusion-the study of the bite, and how important it is to know the individual factors that impact different peoples bites. This is something I have studied over the years and has contributed to the long term success of our cases, some of the before and afters on our web site are over fifteen years old! Looking forward to the new information and all the other programs on cosmetic dentistry and the benefits it can provide for our patients. We also are participating in a 10K walk/run to benefit The House of Ruth and battered women. For this meeting we are staying in a cottage in the town of LaJolla instead of the usual hotel at a convention center. We will fill you in on the meeting when we get back.

Continuing Education

We have two upcoming trips planned. We are going to Las Vegas the end of the month to The Las Vegas Institute and are enrolled in a "Dental Concierge" course. It is a hospitality training program that we decided to take to see if we can learn more about caring for our guests. Right now I can say that I am very proud of the way Robert, Clare adn Eli care for patients and friends of the practice. Just yesterday I was looking for Clar and she was outside having walked a patient to her car. Robert and Eli have exquisite manners and it is a pleasure to see them interact with patients. Robert always says he just acts like his grandma always taught him to act! So why are we going? We thought that there might be something we could learn to make our patients visit the highlight of their day. Please let us know how you have enjoed your visit with us.
